This is an essential course for anyone wishing to explore painting. The class focuses on the fundamentals of painting through conceptual, material, and aesthetic approaches. This studio course gives equal attention to art history and theory. Confidence and skill are developed through weekly exercises, lectures, and individualized feedback. There will also be weekend field trip to a local museum or gallery.
About the instructor: Patrick Tobias holds a BFA for the University of California, San Diego and a MFA from Art Center College of Design. His work has been exhibited widely throughout California. He was a student teacher during his residency at Art Center, and currently works as an art instructor for students with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.

Free street parking on E. Foothill Blvd. and Daisy Ave. There limited parking behind the building. You can enter the studio from the back door in Wenger Alley. The back entrance provides better accessibility for disabled persons.
Please arrive on time.
This is uninstructed time to work from a nude model. The session is primarily reserved for short poses, with 1-2 20 or 30 minute poses. Previous experience working from the figure is recommended. Bring your own materials. Our facility cannot accommodate oil painting; ask about private lessons off site.
